Sandy Thomson is a Writer / Director based in Scotland. She has written for and directed theatre and film, alternative reality games as well as audio and visual journeys. She is the recipient of a Playwright Studio Scotland Award and was selected for The New York Women in Film and Television The Writer’s Lab as well as Scotland’s curated screenwriting development program Write4Film,

She is a two time Finalist in the screenplay competition at the Nashville Film Festival, with her co-written script Salt Water Blood with creative partner Jeremiah Reynolds winning its category in 2020.

In 2020 she launched Squad Walk Films, a production company with Jeremiah Reynolds, producing story-centric narrative films in the UK and USA. In 2020 they released the short film Night Shift which Thomson directed with music from Grammy Award Winning producer Femke. Silver Star and Crybaby Hill, two shorts filmed in the USA are currently in post production and due to release in 2021. Meanwhile, Thomson is developing A Sharp Arrow, her directing feature film debut.

Her plays have been critically acclaimed, receiving 5 star reviews and inclusion in international showcases like IETM and Made in Scotland and touring internationally. Her most recent plays Monstrous Bodies and Damned Rebel Bitches were both published and produced in Scotland with support from Creative Scotland. Other commissions include the National Theatre of Scotland, Dundee Rep Theatre, Cultura Inglesa Festival and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
